WATERCOLORS

Having gone through three years of classical architecture study in college, this is still one of my favorite mediums and skillsets that I've acquired. I started watercoloring a little in a high school painting class, and upon visiting Notre Dame's School of Architecture, I fell in love with how gorgeous it was to see it applied to both technical renderings and softer vignettes. My work tends to focus more on architectural watercolors but I like experimenting and doing some more abstract watercolor work as well.

CITY CENTER AT OYSTER POINT | NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA

ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING: CMSS ARCHITECTS

The linework for these renderings was created by a very talented co-worker who has been doing architectural illustration for a few decades, and the planning and design were done by the architecture firm I worked for in Virginia. I assisted with the watercoloring. To learn about the project, please visit the firm's website here. For more about City Center, please visit their website here.

PEMBROKE STRATEGIC GROWTH AREA MASTER PLAN | VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA

ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING: CMSS ARCHITECTS

Much like the renderings I collaborated with for City Center at Oyster Point, many of the renderings for this project were created by a team of designers, which I helped give additional vibrance by adding my watercoloring touch to them. I assisted with some of the linework but definitely had a great deal of assistance in preparing these images for color. Again, the planning and design were done by the architecture firm I worked for in Virginia. To learn about the project, please visit the firm's website here. For further information about this area as well as the City of Virginia Beach's other targeted strategic growth plans, please visit their website here.

INNSBROOK NEXT | GLEN ALLEN, VIRGINIA

ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING: CMSS ARCHITECTS / H&A ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS

The same talented artist that helped provide the linework for the Oyster Point renderings also created the base for the following renderings I completed for Innsbrook Next, a proposed mixed-use development to build upon a previous office park development. To learn about the development, please visit Innsbrook's website here.

STUDENT & PERSONAL WORK

EARL

Even though this watercolor was one of my first from my high school painting class, and while I've been trying to keep getting better, this little tree a friend and I named 'Earl' is still to this day one of my favorites that I've done.

WINDOWS & DOORS OF NOTRE DAME

This introductory watercolor study was both a lesson in drafting, scale, and architectural rendering during my first year of studying architecture in college. It is still one of my favorites and something that I'd love to be able to explore further once I get a chance to go back to campus and take photos of the newer additions to campus.

ITALY WATERCOLORS

During my junior year of architectural study in Notre Dame's Rome Studies Program, I created the following images from visiting these sites in person. These watercolors were all drawn by hand and then painted, in one afternoon or less. Clockwise from the top, the sites shown are (1) San Cataldo in Palermo, Italy, (2) Santa Maddalena in Rome, Italy, (3) The Campidoglio in Rome, Italy, and (4) Il Giardino degli Arancini in Rome, Italy, with a view of St. Peter's in the background.
